NAPIER, Reuter: West Indies Captain Viv Richards celebrated his 35th birthday with a smashing unbeaten 117 on the second day of the three day cricket match against New Zealand’s Shell Xi.
Richards scored his century off only 105 balls as the West Indies, resuming at 290 for five overnight, declared their first innings at 433 IX.
In reply, the home side, made up of top players not in the New Zealand test team, had struggled to 138 for six at the close, with opening batsman Phil Horne unbeaten on 65.
LONDON, Reuter: Former European champions Liverpool paid 400,000 sterling (600,000 dollars) for Chelsa midfield player Nigel Spackman, who may find himself playing in his new club’s famous Red Strip.
