CHANDIGARK, India: The Punjab Speaker Mr. Sunjit Singh Minhass has served notice to 23 members of the break-way group including Mr. Parkash Singh Badal to show cause within seven days of the receipt of the notices why they should note expelled from the membership of the house. The Chief Minister, Mr. Sunjt Singh Barnala had asked for their expulsion from the House under the anti-defection Jaw on the grounds that they had voted against the party candidate for the post of Speaker and Deputy Speaker. The Speaker said that he has been advised that a decision on the reference made by Akali Chief Minister was required to be taken. The Chief Minister had taken the action against the three of them. Three former ministers: Mr. Amarinder Singh, Mr. Sukhjinder Singh and Mr. Sucha Singh Chottepur had been expelled from the party. Bibi Jagdish Kaur had not participated in the election of the Speaker and deputy Speaker and disassociated herself from the activities of the breakaway group.
