JOHANASBURG: South African President F.W. de Klerk has hailed Canada’s decision to lift trade sanctions and called on the international community to support the “very dynamic process” taking place in his country. South Africa which was suspended from the U.N. in 1974 because of the country’s apartheid policies, expects to regain full membership. Klerk said, “we welcome the decision of Canada,” at the United Nations. He said it was in all South Africans interest that sanctions be lifted and the country get access to interaction inciters to enable us to open up our economy.
