Infamous fued carries on

Director General of KP,S Gill and Rupan Deol Bajaj, a senior IAS officer, have both filed suits in the Supreme Court in the backslapping incident at a dinner in Chandigarb nearly a year ago.

The Punjab and Haryana High court had on May 29 last: quashed Bajaj’s criminal case against Gill. She filed a special leave petition challenging the verdict of the High court in the highest court of the land on July 10. The High Court had declined to use the “privileged” documents in possession of the State Government, and the correspondence between the Governor, SS, Ray and his Adviser, JF. Riberiro. Bajaj calls these as her “principal evidence”.

The lower court argued that the documents were ‘privileged’. Following this, Gill moved a contempt of court petition against Bajaj and demanded her arrest as she had quoted verbatim from these documents.

Gill in his petition filed two months ago protested against the strictures passed by a Judge of the High Court against him.

The petitions, as yet not listed, are likely to take a few weeks for the hearing.
