KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian premier Dr Mahathir Mohammad has regretted that attempts by third world nations reform the international information ordered failed following threats to cut off finances to UNESCO by one of the western nations. As a result some of the international media continue to fabricate and indulge in selective and slanted reporting about poor nations Dr Mahathir said adding there is sympathy for the poor but none of its is shown to poor nations attempting to gain access to the international media and to fair reporting.

Inaugurating a meeting of information ministers from the six member association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) Dr Mohammad said in developing nations the govt’s must guide the media as western style press freedom could undermine poor nations.
