NEW DELHUL India, March 6, Reuter: Six Gurkha insurgents were reported killed in a 14hour gun battle with police in the northeast Indian tea growing district of Darjeeilng on Sunday.
The battle broke out when police laid siege to a Kurseong region tea estate which was being used as a hideout by about 200 members of the Gurkha National Liberation Front (GNLF), the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.
The GNLF men set off land mines before they could break through the siege, leaving the six dead.
