Bombay: Premier P.V. Narasimha Rao has expressed confidence that the Sino-Indian border issue will remain quiet as the recent visit of the Chinese Premier to India had provided the first major breakthrough in this direction.
In a special Republic-Day interview to R K. Karanjia a noted Journalist and editor-in-chief of the weekly “Blitz” Rao said disengagement would be the second step and both the countries had agreed that the attitude to the final settlement was so positive that it would not be affected or influenced by any outside factor. Replying to a question on the possibility of India signing the nonproliferation treaty (NPT) Rao aid although Pakistan has re~ fused to sign this had nothing to do with India’s refusal and he reiterated his support for “Global Disarmament.”
