TOLEDO, OH: One man is just arriving, self-taught, diligent and possessing endless promise. The other is one of the best ever, seeking the only major title he doesn’t own! Vijay Singh and Tom Watson, born on opposite sides of the globe and linked by a passion for golf, lit up the PGA Championship recently. Singh, a young man from Fiji, shot an Inverness Club record 63 and set a pace that Watson nearly caught with a 65. An Singh showed all his potential with a 31 on the back nine in his 8underpar round, tying the lowest single round score ever in one of the majors and giving him 131 for a two stroke lever Lanny Wadkins and steve Elkington. Singh’s two round total also laid a PGA Championship record for 36 holes.
