NEW YORK: Over a thousand Sikhs from California Canada England Connecticut Massachusetts; New York New Jersey Pennsylvania Virginia and Washington D.C. converged before the U. large numbers for the freedom of Khalistan against Human Rights Violations in India and to protest against India’s bid for permanent membership of UN Security Council. The protest meeting was organized by all Sikh organizations from United States Canada England and India. Two different memorandums by the Panthic Committee and PHRO were released on the day of the security summit in N.Y. on Jan.31, 1991.

Sat jiwan Singh Khalsa S.Balbir Singh Niljar of Babbar Khalsa Toronto Dr. Gurmit Singh Aulakh S.Amayjt Singh Buttr said that India’s quest for permanent seat on UN Security Council should Dedenied based upon a the principle which was applied in the 50s and 60s to reject the Republic of Chinas membership in the U.N. The then U.S. Secretary of State; John Foster Duffes had successfully argued that “you have to be good boys to get in.”
Similar meetings were also organized by Tibetans Chinese Kashmiris and Croatians at the same time. On occasions both Kashmiris and Sikhs joined together in raising slogans against Indian government’s repressive policies against its minorities must be noted that it was the thing successful meeting in front of the U.N.O in as many months.
