WASHINGTON: On reasonable assumptions, India will have a population of 1374.5 million in the year 2020 Pakistan 251.3 million and Bangladesh 201.4 million, according to the non-Official population reference bureau.

“If India resumes a period of fertility decline, ending a stall of many years, and reaches replacement level in 2010© says the Bureau, “its 1990 population of 853 million would grow to 1.3 billion by 2025 and the annual growth rate would fall to half the current rate of 2.1 percent.”

Uncontrolled proliferation would make India’s population exceed 2 billion by the year 2025.
