In view of the present crisis, in the Sikh religion and tremendous oppression and repression against the Sikhs in Punjab, the Sangat of Sikh Gurdwara Stockton took the stock of the present situation and passed the following resolutions unanimously on Sunday, November 22, 1987 which are reproduced here below: 1, The Sangat unanimously supported the nomination of Singh Sahib Jathedar Gurbachchan Singh Manochahll as Acting Chief of Akal Takht as nominated by “Sarbat Khalsa” held on Diwali, October 22, 1987. The Sangat also made an appeal to the Sikh community of the world to extend whole hearted co-operation to Jathedar Manochahll to enable him to discharges his duties as Jathedar Akal Takht.
- The Sangat appreciated the action of Prof. Darshan Singh Ragi in submitting his resignation as the Acting Jathedar of Akal Takht, thus paving the way for a panthic unity. The Sangat also appealed to Prof. Ragi to continue his efforts to serve the Sikh community by propagating Sikh philosophy through Shabad Kirtan.
3, The Sangat of Stockton takes this opportunity to appeal to all the Gurdwaras of the worlds (outside of India) to pass similar resolutions to show their solidarity and total support to Jathe- dar Singh Sahib Bhat Gurbachan Singh Manochahll in the discharge of his duties as such.
- The Sangat of Stockton also announced to accept the leadership of Panthic Committee to support and carry out their decisions with “Tan, Man and Dhan’.
- It was further decided to convey all these decisions and Gurmattas through advertisements and open letters to all concerned.
