LUDHIANA: Khandur village preacher Hira Singh allegedly was killed by the Mulanpur Dakhe police in the wake of his torture. Hundreds of Sikhs organized 2 protest demonstrations in front of Mulanpur Dakha police station last week. The demonstration continued for four hours. According to information the police had detained the preacher two days earlier from the village Gurdwara. The villagers were later informed by the police that the preacher had committed “suicide” inside the police station. . The public lifted the blockade of the police station after the S.P. (Operations) agreed to hold a magisterial enquiry.
The S.P. admitted that the death in police custody was a black spot on the face of the police.
