LUDHIANA, INDIA: The veteran Akali leader and former LGS. Officer and Lok Sabha member, Bhai Sahib S. Kapur Singh died at Ludhiana on August 13, He was 77. Expressing shock over the death of S. Kapur Singh, Chief Minister of Punjab, Mr. Surjit Singh Barnala, described him as a great scholar and a philosopher. The Chief Minister sent condolences to members of the be repaved family.
His death was widely mourned all over Punjab. A.I.S.S.F Teasers expressed their grief over the passing away of their mentor and guide. His book “Sachi Sakhi” is considered to be an authority’s comment on the dynamics of Sikhism. He was the architect of the much maligned Anandpur Sahib Resolution.
Sirdar Kapur Singh was born on March 1, 1909, and was educated at Government College, Lahore, and Cambridge University at Cambridge University he received his Tripos in Moral
Sciences and in 1934 he entered into the Indira Civil Service. He has been a Member of Indian Parliament and also a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly’s. Kapur Singh is the author of Me Jus tice, a Miscellany, in English, on political, cultural and religious subjects: Parashar prasna, a thesis, in English, on the status and significance of Sikhism: Sachi Sakhi, in Punjabi prose, Political Memoirs and Analysis of contemporary Sikh history: Bahuvistar, in Punjabi prose, a Collection of Historical and scientific Essays: Pundreek, in Punjabi prose, a col lection of Cultural Essays: Spattering, in Punjab prose, Seven Living Biographies of Great men.
- Kapur Singh was cremated at his native village Agwar Lopon, near Jagraon in Lud hiana District.
