AMRITSAR, India S.GP.C. President ship poll scheduled for Nov. 30 is likely to be a stormy affair, according to a newspaper report. According to ‘S.G.P.C. sources the only item on the agenda is election of S.GP.C office bearers . The agenda also allows raising of any other issue with the permission of the President, The Executive Committee of SGPC is meeting at Anandpur Sahib on Nov. 27 to finalize the resolution to be moved at the general house meeting on Nov. 30 at Teja Singh Samundari Hall. Besides the official resolution, there is provision which allows any member to submit resolution for adoption by the House with the prior consent of the S.G.P.C. President. S.G.P.C has received a resolution from three members: Such a Singh Chote pur, Sampuran Singh Josh and Gurdial Singh, owing alliance to the faction led by Badal. This information was released by the General Secretary of Akali Dal (B) Mr. Manjit Singh. The resolution of the three members pertains to the police entery into the Golden Temple Complex on April 30 and draft of Sikh Gurdwara Bill. Some of the S.G.P.C, members feel that this can be dangerous, I e: any reference to the draft bill at this stage to the Centre will be dangerous as the S.G.P.C. in the present form could become defunct as the Present Act would stand automatically dissolved, Mean while, efforts are continuing on the part of the two factions of Akali Dal to woo members in favour of their own candidates. According to Finance Minister, Balwant Singh, his party will consider former S.G.P.C. President S. Gurcharan Singh Tohra as party candidate for the S.G.P.C. election if he returns to party fold. Mr. Balwant Singh claimed that his party is still pursuing unity among various factions of Akali Dal. He denied that efforts to persuade Gurcharan Singh to rejoin Akali Dal Longowal was delaying the ‘announcement of the party candidates for the S.GP.C, President ship.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sujit Singh Barnala and Balwant Singh met Mr. Jagdev Singh Talwandi at the residence of Randhir Singh Chima a former Akali Minister at Karim pura village near Sir hind.
Mr. Barnala and Balwant Singh also have separately met United Akali Dal leader Atma Singh a day earlier. Mr. Atma Singh said that his party would put up a third candidate.
