AMRITSAR, India: The Sikh High Priests today announced their decision not to guide Unified Akali Dal anymore. The decision was conveyed to a meeting of the Dal attended by Presidium and Council Members here on May 23. The acting Jathedar of Akal Takht, Darshan Singh told reporters the priests helped in unifying the Akali Dal and since it was now fully established, they would not guide its affairs anymore. They will reorganize themselves at all levels without our help, he added. The Priests had a special meeting in the morning before conveying this decision which came as a report that they were unhappy over the bickering in the new party. They appointed Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Baldev Singh Sibia and Heera Singh, Council Members of the party in place of Gurdev Singh Badal, Gaijja Singh and Surjan Singh Thekadar who had been arrested.
