VANCOUVER, B.C: Following the noble teachings of the Gurus and the traditions of the faith, a 55 year old Sikh has put his real estate holdings worth $100 million for a charitable foundation to help the under provided in third world countries. This would make his organization, Consciousness International Foundation, the third largest charity in Canada.

Echoing the teachings of Guru Nanak, Satwant Singh a.k.a Stephen Sander, said he believed in the universality of soul and did not feel that there was any distinction between people in the basis of their caste, creed or religion. “Being a Sikh, I believe in the equality of souls. Sick and starving children and old age people are no different from your own children and your own parents,” he said.

Satwant Singh had immigrated to Canada from United Kingdom in 1960. He received a master’s degree in education from the Springfield College in Massachusetts in 1963; He was an athlete of distinction in India where he had moved since the bifurcation of India and Pakistan in 1947. There he lived in Patti in Amritsar district and in Delhi before immigrating to United Kingdom.

He said he had provided for the future of his eight children and that he and his second wife Nancy planned to start working again, he as a school teacher and she by setting up her own physical fitness business.

Singh’s Hollyburn Properties Ltd have a market value of $140 million offset by a $40 million mortgages. They will generate an estimated $9 million yearly.

Gian Singh Sandhu, President of the World Sikh Organization, in an interview with WSN said, “we wish that other people who have made a fortune learn from Sukhwant Singh and follow him.
