NEW DELHI: The Indian Army announced the arrest of a Sikh who acted a coordinator between Muslim and Sikh militants in Kashmir and the neighboring state of Punjab.
Moti Singh, a member of the advisory council of the outlawed Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), was arrested in Srinagar, Press Trust of India (PTI) reported. A Defense ministry Spokesman was quoted as saying that Mou Singh was a “coordinator” between Muslim suerriflas fighting to secede Kashmir and Sikh separatists in Punjab. “It is a prize catch,” the spokesman said in Sarinagar. PTL said Moti Singh had taken part in at least six attacks on Indian security forces in Kashmir and was attempting to forge a united front of four Muslim groups in the state when he was caught,
Meanwhile, security forces shot dead two Kashmir freedom fighters including one trained by Afshan guerrillas, in the valley, PTI said, Abdul Majid of the AlUmer Mujahideen, described as an “Afghan trained group commander, Was shot dead dafter Mujuhideen hurled a grenade at a group Of Indian security personnel in Srinagar. Another militant was gunned down in Baramulla district.
