CHICAGO: Sikh community affairs committee of Sikh religious Society of Chicago organized an Asian American awareness day at Gurdwara in Palatine IL on Dec.6,1992 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

 Representatives from several established Asian American organizations were invited for a dialogue with the Sikh American community to set up an information exchange forum to net Work with them.

The purpose was to facilitate Sikh American community lo get involved and actively participate in the main Stream American civic and political system while maintaining their heritage and identity, this will help solutions to “Kirpan” and turban issues when raised.

Asian American bar Association Asian American Educators Associations, Asian American’ Journalists Association, Illinois minority and female business enterprise bureau, Nat’l Association of. Asian American Professionals, Asian American Coalition, Asian American Institute, Illinois Public Aid Dept. and state’s attorney Jack O’Malley’s office Asian Liaison’s were present.

Booths were set up for each organization f display their literature and the Attendees asked questions from the guests.

Later each organization was given time at the podium to explain the aims, objectives, goals programs and agenda’s of their respectively e association. The event was organized by Gulzar Singh, Mohinder Ji Singh saini, and Rajinder Singh Mago.
