Sir,

It is highly hypocritical and tyrannical for certain governments and Institutions in North America (Examples, Air Canada, Peel Memorial Hospital, Brampton, Ontario) and Europe to post signs in Hindi language and print information brochures etc. inspite of the fact that a very large majority of the people of origin on Indian subcontinent and living in Canada, U.S.A. and U.K. are Punjabi speaking. In Canada Punjabi is the 11th largest language. On the contrary the number of people from Hindi belt of India (U.P., Bihar and area around Delhi) are negligible. The decisions of posting Hindi signs and printing Hindi in brochures are highly political; devoid of common sense and a disservice to the people they try to serve. This action is an outright insult to the common sense and dignity of mankind. It is a well-known fact that the Hindus of Punjab are the only people on earth who disowned their own mother tongue Punjabi and owned Hindi (Sanskrit zed urdu), the language they do not even know well.

People with some sense will always recognize the usage of a language in accordance with the need to facilitate communication. The western governments boast about Human Rights at the top of their voice while turning a blind eye to sober facts on this issue, There are other cultures and Nations on Indian subcontinent that are much better than the Hindi and Hindus. Indian government is committing crimes against humanity by torture killing minorities and suppressing their languages and cultures which is worse than ethnic cleansing in Yugoslavia and genocide of Hitler. It is a shame that governments and institutions in the western countries are lending them a hand. Ajit Singh
