AMBALA: The Hindu Shiv Sena is against any plan to hold elections in Punjab because of the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. Expressing his views to newsmen here on Sunday the gen secretary of the Northern Zone unit of the Sena Ranesh Bhardwaj maintained that in the present situation when militants ruled the roost any election could not be held fairly.

He appealed to all political parties to boycott the elections if they were conducted. Bhardwaj said that the law and order situation had worsened under the Janata Dal rule. He said migration of the minority community especially from the three border district had increased. The villages in these districts were being ruled by the militants he said.

Bhardwaj said the police in these districts had been Demoralised following the announcement of the Governor against their style of functioning. He also criticised the deployment of National Security Guards. The only solution he said was to hand the area over to the army by creating a security belt.
