UNITED NATIONS: Chairman of the Pakistan based Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Amanullah Khan has said that the front does not recognise the Shimla agreement and that it represented sell out of Kashmir by Pakistan.
Addressing a press conference at the United Nations correspondents club (UNCA) at the world body’s headquarters, he sought support from the United Nations and its member states to the armed struggle being waged by his organisation.
Replying to repeated questions by correspondents whet her he supported kidnappings and killings; he justified violence by the front and indicated that the front might step it up if THS demand for self-determination was not concerned.
A correspondent asked about his reaction to PLO leader Yasser Arafat’s remarks that India and Pakistan should soIve the Kashmir problem within the framework of Shimla agreement.
Khan said if Arafat had ma de such a statement he was “ignorant” of the issues involved.
Asked whether China supported the front’s stand, he said “no comment.”
Replying to a question, he denied Pakistan was providing them with either financial support or weapons. The front was buying arms from open market when finances provided by “our people,” he said.
