NEW DELHI: Chandra Shekhar has warned the militants that the government would take stern action if they had “any thoughts” of using the June elections in the state as a referendum for Khalistan according to a video news magazine Eyewitness.

In a report on a “series of secret meetings” between the Prime Minister and the militants Eyewitness says Lok Sabha and state assembly elections in the state are the result of secret meetings between the prime minister and the militants “culminating in an arrangement between them.”

The video magazine said the secret described as the prime minister’s political confidante and his go between with the militants.

The first meeting the magazine claimed was held on January 11 and the most recent on April 18.

“Look if you come to power and do something stupid” like asking for Khalistan “the central government is not going to sit quiet whichever government is here Shekhar told the militants according to Guruswamy.

Shekhar said that he was not talking to “killers and murderers” but to people who had been “alienated” and because of that “they are killing”.

“Suppose a member of my family goes on a wrong path what do I do? Do l discard him on the very first day or try to persuade him “he said adding “if he is not persuaded by me I take the help of relatives and friends.”

“Suppose 100 per cent Khalistanis are elected to the assembly and they use it as a referendum and declare Khalistan I shall get them arrested” Chandra Shekhar reportedly warned.

Guruswamy was assisted by Gurtej Singh of the Council for Sikh Affairs and candidate from the parliamentary constituency of Faridkot.

Gurtej Singh was quoted as saying. “What we liked about him was his sincerity” Gurtej Singh said.
