NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar may contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha mid-term poll from Kurukshetra in Haryana.
Janata Dal (S) president and Haryana Patriarch Devi Lal have offered the Kurukshetra seat to the prime minister party secretary general Om Prakash Chautala said at a press conference Friday. Chautala is Devi Lal’s son.
Chandra Shekhar won the 1989 Lok Sabha poll from Ballia in Uttar Pradesh and Maharajganj in Bihar. He later resigned his Maharajganj seat.
Chautala also said the Janata Dal (socialist) would launch its election campaign at a massive rally here on March 31.
He said the rally would be addressed by party president Devi Lal and prime minister Chandra Shekhar. The party would organise election rallies in all state capitals before April 10 he said.
Chautala said a two-day party workers’ training camp would be held in Kurukshetra in Haryana in which they would be given a clear idea about the issues facing the country.
All state party presidents who were scheduled to come here for March 20 meeting would be asked to hold similar training camps in the capitals he said in reply to a question.
