NASIK: Film star Shatrughan Sinha was released by a Nasik court on a personal bond of Rs 3000 in connection with a criminal case lodged against him by Rajabhau Rathi a local citizen for making certain derogatory remarks against the Marwari community in the June 1989 issue of stardust a film periodical.
Sinha was served a non bailable warrant by the court returnable on Sept.24,1991 However he appeared in the court on Monday along with the editor of the magazine
CHANDIGARH: Changes are expected in the leadership of the faction-ridden Punjab Pradesh Congress-I before the elections.
The names being mentioned to replace the Pradesh Congress-I President Beant Singh include Harcharan Singh Brar and the former Pradesh Congress-I president Santosh Singh Randhawa.
Also in the race is Bir Devinder Singh who has been leading the dissidents ever since Beant Singh was appointed the president ship.
The dissidents had been lobbying against Beant Singh for more than a yes unsuccessfully. The state has not witnessed any political activity for a long time and hence there was noticed to change the leadership. The postponed election generated political activity but then the Congress-I decided to boycott It.
