CHANDIGARH India: Rajasthan government refused permission to a high level S.G.P.C. delegation comprising its President Kabul Singh Secretary Bhan Singh and S Harbans Singh Ghuman to visit Sikh young men under detention in Jodhpur jail. Mr. Surjit Singh Barnala Punjab Chief Minister had sent this delegation to enquire into the complaints of the Sikhs in that jail.

Commenting on the refusal Rajasthan Chief Minister said that the permission was not given as the delegation members with the exception of one were not blood relations of the detained Sikhs. He disclosed that only blood relations can be permitted to meet the detained Sikhs as per the latest rules issued by the government. He also said that strict vigilance will be maintained over the sending of rations from outside the jail Authorities discovered after a brawl in the jail that small weapons had been smuggled inside the pons were smuggled inside on account of laxity by police and ail authorities. He said that these restrictions would continue till fresh instructions are received from the Central government.
