AMRITSAR: Ruling circles in Punjab who thought that the deaths of Bhai Gurjant Singh Budhsinghwala and a few other leading militants had paralyzed the Khalistan movement were rudely shaken on Tuesday when Sikh militants killed seven India Border Security Force men in a mine blast near Kotei Surat Kallian in Gurdaspur district.
The Dera Baba Nanak police said that the militants conducted their operation with precision. One group engaged B.S.F. men at Kotlli Surat Malian post in a heavy exchange of fire for 40 minutes. The B.S.F. men requisitioned more force from their headquarters on a message relayed through wireless. The company commandant of 105 Battalion sent a 10-member force to assist the B.S.F, men in distress. Meanwhile, another group of militants planted a mine on the likely route of the B.S.F, to the post. The exposition left seven B.S.F. killed and four injured,
The Dera Baba Nanak police said that no militant was killed in the encounter at the post.
