NEW DELHI: Chief Election Commissioner T.N. Seshan met President Shankar Dayal Sharma to lodge his protest against the Tamil Nadu Government’s Tailure to making adequate security during his visit to Madras. Seshan was unable to step out of ‘because irate AIADMK demonstrators had gheraoed the ex-protesting against Seshan’s adverse remarks about former Chief Ministers C.N. Annadurai and M.G. Ramachandran in his recently published biography.

Seshan had suggested to newspersons at Madras airport before his departure for Delhi that the AIADMK Government should be dismissed by the President for its failure to let the constitutional authority enter the city unharmed. Joining issue with the CEC, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha sent a report to the President complaining about Seshan’s arrogance and ‘abusive altitude towards senior civil and police officials of the State during his visi Seshan had reportedly refused to leave the airport through a side entrance because the police officials could not prepare his departure in the five minutes stipulated by him.
