CHICAGO, IL: Guru Nanak Mission of greater Chicago provided dinner to 120 people at Wayside; a Homeless Center in Aurora, Illinoisan distributed clothing worth $2500.
Amarjit Singh, founder of Guru Nanak Mission of Greater Chicago said, “It is a wonderful coincidence that this year Thanksgiving has coincided with Guru Nanak’s 524th birthday, and there would have been no better opportunity than this to share His Blessings with the less fortunate and thus continuing the tradition of Guru Nanak’s“ Free Kitchen” and the spirit of Thanksgiving.
Before dinner, he briefly outlined Guru Nanak’s teaching of Universal Brotherhood, Service, Sacrifice and Love. Guru Nanak Mission also distributed books entitled “Outline of Sikh Religion” for better understanding and awareness of Sikhism, A beautiful prayer was recited by a 12 year old girl Drishpreet Kaur, “In the name of the AL mighty God, every merciful, and the mercy giving. We surround all people, and all forms of life, with infinite love and compassion. On Thanksgiving Day, we come before you with open hands, and gratitude for your kindness, we open our hearts to concern, for our fellow men and women, so that we may share your gifts, in loving services. Nanak, May Thy Name Forever Ascend, May The Entire Humanity Be Blessed In This World Under Your Grace.’ The Mission also distributed nonperishable food items at Dupage Homeless Shelter, On behalf of Guru nanak Mission of Greater Chicago, Amarjit Singh thanked and appreciated the contributors & volunteers for the noble cause, who were not only Sikhs, but also non Sikhs in keeping with Guru Nanak’s message of Universal Brotherhood.
