HYDERABAD (PTI): Ruling Congress-I Legislature Party (CLP) in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh has left selection of its new leader to party president and prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao.

The one-sentence resolution was moved by outgoing chief minister and was approved by all members Janardhan Poojari, one of the four central party observers, told reporters. The high court Judgement struck down the state government’s permission for establishment of 12 new medical and dental colleges on the grounds that some of Reddy’s family members were given permits,

Reddy then moved the Supreme Court, the country’s apex court of justice, challenging the lower court Judgement before announcing his stepping down from office.
