SRINAGAR: Five persons, including three militants, were, bummed alive and one BSF jawans died in a three hour encounter in a militant hideout in Dayalgam village in Anantnag district June 26.
Sources say, the two persons be Sides the three militants who were burned were the mother and brother one of the militants, Nissar Ahmed Bhat and belonged to the Harkat ul Mujahideen. The two other militants belonged to the Al Umar Mujahideen.
- BSF spokesman said they had tied the small village on Anantag’s outskirts following Information that top militants were hiding in a house and conspiring to attack the security forces. The BSF men condoned off the house around 2a.m. The militants hurled a grenade from the pound floor killing a constable, Hiran Roy, on the spot.
The BSF men stormed the house. Militants on the first floor hurled two more grenades and continued firing on the party. The house was a permanent hideout of the Harkat ul Mijahideen, Unable to get the militants, BSF called for reinforcement and finally when reinforcements were rushed from Anantnag, and these engaged the militants’ attention from a distance. The BSF set fire to a haystack in the compound of the house which spread to the house. All militants were burned alive.
At least five BSF personnel were injured during the encounter. The condition of one of them is serius. A
The BSF men later recovered five bodies and documents from the hideout.
People in Anahtnag protested against the incident saying the security forces set the house on fire intentionally.
Over 25,000 people assembled on the main roads of the town chanting slogans against the security forces.
The authorities have imposed Section 144 of the Cr P.C. banning the assembly of five or more per sons, in the town.
In other incidents militants over powered two constables of the local police who had gone to the SMHS Hospital to see a relative and snatched their rifles. Security personnel cordoned off the hospital and carried out searches, but the militants escaped.
There is still no word about the fate of former Bihar ML.A, Pankaj Sinha, two Intelligence Bureau officers and Ghulam Mohammad Khanday, a contractor, who are being held hostage by Kashmiri militants.
