NEW YORK: The second ethnic parade held here on June 14 was dedicated to the Sikh identity by the organizers. The 1000 strong Sikh contingent comprising representatives from New York, New Jersey, Boston, and Connecticut was the largest and the most conspicuous among the other ethnic groups. free way to recover deleted files from usb Sixteen year old Navneet Singh from Chicago acted as the Chief Marshal along with Dr. Manohar Singh Grewal, President World Sikh Organization. Navneet Singh is a Cadet in the Mermion Academy and had joined the Academy after being assured that he would not be discriminated against because of his turban. But subsequent when he joined the R.O.T.C. program, he was not allowed to wear R.O.T.C. uniform. After considerable correspondent, he was finally per mitted to participate in all the activities in his blue uniform instead of the regular green uniform.

However, Congress has already passed a bill (H.R. 1219) permitting the use of turban and a similar bill is pending in the Senate.

In the parade, Sikhs carried Sikh flag and the W.S.O. flag and chanted slogans in favor of Khalistan. Sikh boys and girls, also performed Bhangra and Giddha. Sikh contingent was the largest in the parade.

Indians, however, boycotted the parade because they did not want the participation of Sikhs as separate ethnic group. Dr. Naunthal Singh, Director Administration W:S.0O. acted as the liaison man and established excellent equation with all the participating ethnic groups.
