NEW DELHI (PTI): The Supreme Court on Nov.4 extended the scheme of payment of interim relief of Rs 200 per month for three years with retrospective effect from March 11992 to one hundred thousand additional victims of the Bhopal gas tragedy.
The additional victims had been found eligible later by the apex court.
A three judge bench headed by justice M.N.Venkatachallaiah passed the order while disposing of a petition by the Bhopal gas Peedit Mahila Udyog Sangatan a voluntary organization seeking payment of arrears to the additional victims for the period April 11990 to February 29, 1992.
Wednesdays order is in continuance of the courts earlier order of August 19 by which it had directed the union of India to pay interim relief to the one hundred thousand additional victims.
