BHOPAL: Former Union Minister Madhavrao Scindia severed his links with the Congress by filing his nomination as an independent candidate for his traditional Gwalior Lok Sabha seat and floating a new outfit, called the Madhya Pradesh Vikas Congress.
Mr. Scindia filed four Sets of nomination papers before Gwalior district collector Pratap Singh Parihar, The former Union minister’s son also filed four sets of papers as a shadow candidate for the Madhya Pradesh Vika Congress, Mr. Scindia is one of the seven former Union ministers who have been denied the Congress ticket for being charge sheeted in the hawala caso. The Congress had fielded Mr, Shashi Bhushan Bajpaifor the Gwalior seat: In New Delhi, AICC spokesman Maj Ved Prakash indicated that Mr. Scindia stood expelled from the party: ‘Our constitution is very clear, anyone who contests against the party’s candidate, stands automatically expelled,” Maj Ved Prakash said.
