NEW DELHI: A team of Indian meteorologists was presented the third SAARC award for young scientists.

Ata function organized here by the Indian meteorology department (IMD), the award was presented to the four-member team by Nepal’s ambassador to India Ms. Bhinda S. Shah.

The team has been presented the award for its work on “a dynamical approach to quantitative precipitation forecast”, published in the journal “mausam” in 1986. The team members are DS Upadhayay, N Y Apte, Ms. Surinder Kaur and S P Singh.

The article focused on short-range, forecasting quantity of rainfall in catchment areas.
