Hopewell VA: The Sikh Education Aid Fund of the Association of Sikh Professionals has just announced the awards list for 1993, a total of 13 students received funds this year with the average award being $900. We wish to thank all those who donated to this fund. We feel proud to note that the Sikh Community still cares about the education of its youth to be involved in such ventures. The following are the names of the successful applicants:
Harman deep Singh Makkar from Chicago now doing his final year at the Washington University School of Medicine in St.Louis.
Gurdeep Singh Therefrom Chicago now doing 2nd Yr. Medicine at Northeastem Ohio Universities College of Medicine at Rootstown, Ohio.
Sewak Singh from Missouri now doing 2nd Yr, at the Western States Chiropractic College in Portland OR.
Guru Hans Singh Kroesen from Missouri. He will be starting at Portland State University at Portland OR with a planned major in Business Administration.
Sandeep Singh from New York now doing final year at Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at Fort Worth, TX.
Manka Dhingra from Los Angeles has finished his first year at University of California at Berkeley. She plans to major in Political Science.
Karmjeet K. Dhillon from Stockton, CA, will be starting in Pharmacy at School of Pharmacy at Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR.
Navneet Kaur Matta from Maryland, now in her 3rd year in College doing Biopsychology at University of Maryland at Baltimore.
Kavi Inder S. Virk from Denver, Colorado. He is currently working towards his degree in Business Management at Colorado Springs.
Jasdeep S.Nanra(Foreign Student), now doing Biotechnology at University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls.
Manbir Singh(Foreign Student), now doing his MBA at Idaho State University at Pocatello, ID
Hardey Singh (Foreign student) is a graduate level student in Electrical Engineering at the Idaho State University in Pocatello ID.
In addition, Gurdit Singh from Kansas was awarded the “Harbans S,Akali” Scholarship of $1500. Gurdit has been selected for Master of Theological Studies at the Divinity School, Harvard University and will be starting there in fall 1993.
The awards were processed by a Committee of the Association of Sikh Professionals. Members of this Committee were Dr.Racchpal Singh Kukreja from Kentucky, Ran) Pavitar Singh of Aurora, Il, Dr.Simrata Singh of Chicago and the Secretary of the ASP.
We wish to thank those individuals who have made contributions in the past. In addition several individuals have helped with the costs of printing and mailing and provided other support. For all this we are most grateful.
