FRESNO, CA .: Hardip Kaur Brar, daughter of Devinder Kaur Brar and late S. Amar Singh Brar of Fresno won a scholarship worth $12 000 instituted by California Table Grape Commission for the children of grape farm workers.
Hardip, 17, will graduate as valedictorian of her Tranquility High School in June with a 4.12 point average. She will enter the University of California at Irvine in the fall and plans to return to San Joaquin when she completes her medical training. Hardip along with three others will be honoured at a special luncheon where Bill Honig, the Superintendent of Public Instruction will speak. Mr. Honig serves Bas the executive officer and secretary of the State Board of Education and directs the State department of Education.
Hardip has two sisters, Harji and Rajinder, and a brother Sukh vinder, 6. Her father S. Amar Singh was a patron of World Sikh News and died of heart attack in May, 1986.
