Toronto: Refuges lawyer Michael Schelew formerly president of the Canadian Council for Refugees and head of the Canadian section of Amnesty International has been appointed to a seven-year term as deputy chairman of the selective board. Schelew replaces Drasko Bubalo an appointee from the Progressive Conservative era who retired at the end of his term. It’s clear the government is making a statement that they care about genuine refugees by appointing someone with my background to the board Schelew said.
