ST.CATHARINES: A wood and steal scaffold collapsed and fell from beneath the Garden cay skyway in St.Gathrines resulting in the deaths of four workers. Another six workers had to wait for 90 minutes before they were rescued by five fighters. The survivors of the tragedy stood on a 25centimeter ledge throughout the rescue operation, Labor ministry officials are investigating the accident and it is too soon to reach on any conclusion, According to some workers the tragedy happened when carpenters were attempting to move the scaffold on its rails and it jammed, when one tried to pry it along with a crowbar, it loosened the outer structure. The scaffold was being used to support sandblasting and painting operations. The four victims’ names are not released yet.
