NEW DELHI,(PTI): The Supreme Court on June 23 declined to pass any interim order restraining the government of the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh from carrying on digging around the disputed Babri Masjid Ram Janmabhoomi complex in the temple town Ayodhya.
Vacation Judge Justice M.M. Punchi directed the petitioner to approach the senior most judge of Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court to seek the relief prayed for,
The court expected the vamost judge of Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court to seek the relief prayed for.
The court expected the vacation judge of the high court to take up the matter if mentioned, but only if the senior most judge was there and constituting the bench.
The order was given by the apex court on a special leave petition of Mohammed Hashim, who had moved the Supreme Court against an interim order of the Allahabad high court declining to pass the restraint order.
