CALCUTTA (PTI): An executive branch of the state bank of India for nonresident Indians (NRIs), the first of its kind in the Indian. eastern region, was inaugurated in Calcutta on Nov. 10.
The chief general manager, SBI, Bengal circle, M.S. Verma told reporters, after opening the branch, they expect to mobilize NRI deposits to the tune of Rs 100 billion in two years.
He said NRI deposits in Calcutta al present was around Rs two billion and this branch would cater to the banking and financial needs of the people of Indian origin residing abroad.
Branch operations would be fully computerized in three to four months, he added/The SBI management has assured that the branch would offer to its clients, customer service of international standards and it would also have sophisticated communication facilities.
