NEW DELHI: Federal home minister Sayeed and a minister of state will visit 7 nations to project India’s stand on the Kashmir issue and its efforts to improve relations with South Asian nations.

Sayeed will be going to three important Islamic nations Tunisia, Morocco and Yemen, His visit is significant in view of the foreign ministers meeting of the organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) to be held at Cairo next month. Pakistan is trying its best to include the Kashmir issue on the OIC meeting agenda.

During his meetings with leaders in Tunisia, Morocco and Yemen, Sayeed will apprise them of latest developments in the region and India’s efforts to improve relations with its neighbors.

He will be in London from June 28 to 30 for discussions with British home secretary David Waddington. India has recently simplified visa procedures for people of Indian origin residing in the United Kingdom.

Sayeed will be the first Indian leader to visit Yemen after its reunification.

The visit comes in the wake of secessionist activities in the Kashmir state for which India has accused Pakistan, saying the latter has been aiding the militants.

Pakistan has repeatedly denied its involvement with the subversives while openly supporting them at all major international fora.

Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto recently visited nine Islamic nations aimed at eliciting world support on Kashmir issue.
