NEW DELHI: A Saudi Arabian delegation Dec 12 met the former Indian Prime Minister and Congress (I) president, Mr Rajiv Gandhi and apprised him of the current situation in the gulf region.
Briefing newsmen the coordinator of the four member delegation Dr Ahmed Mohammed Jamal strongly refuted reports that Saudi Arabia was under the American shadow.
The over 200,000 multinational force now in Saudi Arabia will leave after the Kuwaiti people Return to their country annexed by Iraq on August 2, Dr Jamal said.
The Sandi ambassador Mr Fouad Sadik Moufti said that while they would welcome any initiative from any country to resolve the Crisis and make Iraq withdraw from Kuwait,
“when it comes from India it will be more: appreciated.”

Asked if the recent communal violent incidents in parts of India figured, during the discussions between the Sandi delegation and Mr Gandhi, the ambassador said “some decent internal problems of India came up”.
We hope that in an atmosphere of goodwill and co-existence the people of this country will live. This is the only to maintain peace and stability and unity of India. We hope peace will soon come in this region,” the ambassador added.
