OTTAWA: S. Gian Singh Sandhu, President WSO International has, in a communication to Minister of Employment and Immigration, appealed to her to intervene and save Chhinder Batthia and an eighteen year old Ethiopian from being deported.

Considering the violent circumstances surrounding the current political atmosphere in Punjab, Chhinder Batthia could very well end up in jail, and perhaps face not only torture, but death, as well may the young Ethiopian: considering the devastating circumstances he is fleeing from,” says. The letter which calls for a compassionate consideration of their cases and adds, “God has bestowed certain powers in you as a Minister of the Crown. It is, therefore, your duty as a human being to intervene and save these individuals’ lives.”

In another letter to the Nova Scotia Premier, Mr. John Buchanan, he expressed concern for the racial violence occurring in Dartmouth, and urged the Premier to take all possible measures to contain, assess and resolve the circumstances which are igniting these conflicts.

“It is vital that these racial tensions be dealt with and cleaned up before they spread like disease and infect the country.

*Those who secretly, or not so secretly, harbor bigotry do not take much encouragement to air it violently when they receive the message that it is okay to do so.

*Please, do not allow this message to reach them. Instead, relay the message that racial and multicultural harmony is the goal of Nova Scotia and the backbone of humanity,” concludes the letter.
