LUDHIANA: Mulayam Singh Yadav, President of the Samajwadi Party, May 9 extended his party’s support to Harbhajan Lakha, the Bahujan Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) candidate for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha scat.

This announcement was made by Mulayam Singh and he directed his stale unit president, Surinder Singh Sandhu, top anticipatein the election campaign of Lakha. Yadav could not go to Jalandhar as he had to go to Patna.

Yadav said he did not want to have any tuck with V.P.Singh, Chandra Shekhar and the Conformer UP Chief Minister said the country was facing threats from the communal and imperial forces. He said “dharam sansad” held at ‘Allahabad had passed a resolution, saying that they would me their own constitution to bring “Hindu rashtra.” According to “dharam sansad,” the BSP was the only party which could Bing “Hindu rashta” Yadav said the country was facing a serious financial crisis as World Bank and IMF loans could not bail out India, Rather multi nationals were tightening their grip on the economy. He warned against the acceptance of the Dunkel proposals for these would shatter the Indian farmer. Fertilizers weedicides and pesticides would become costlier if the Dunkel proposals were accepted.

Yadav said the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party had given a call for statewide dharnas in UP May 10 in protest against the Dunkel proposals.

Yadav called for the holding of elections to the UP Vidhan Sabha and three other states.

Yadav asked the government to hold elections to the UP Vidhan Sabha and issue the necessary notification before May 15 failing which his party would launch agitation. Yadav said his party had six MPs and 21 MLCs in the UP Vidhan Parishad.

Yadav said the Anandpur Sahib resolution was not secessionist and it was no crime to seek more powers for the states. The Center should transfer Chandigarh to Punjab and stile the river waters dispute.
