CHANDIGARH: Militants killed six relatives of a policeman and set ablaze the farm house of Chandigarh senior superintendent of police Sumedh Saini, who had recently escaped an assassination attempt, in continued offensive against security men Monday night.
Nine militants, one of them Gen of the militant outfit Khalistan Liberation Force, were among 22 people killed elsewhere in the state during the period.
Militants opened fire in a grain market in Hans Kalan village, killing two persons and injuring another in Ludhiana district.
The two were identified as Parminder Singh and Sujit Singh. About 25 militants went to the house of ASI Bhag Singh in Dakha, Ludhiana district and fired indiscnminately, killing his two sons, two nephews, a sister and 4 relative who had gathered there for a religious function Monday.
A Lt Gen of Khalistan Liberation Force (Makhu Group) was among the killed militants while four persons were held under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act (TADA) for harboring militants in the state.
