GURDASPUR: The Shiromani Akali Dal president, Mr. Parkash Singh Badal, claimed that his party would form the next government in Punjab. Speaking at the Akali conference at Kahn wan, near here, he also listed the achievements of the SAD.
Criticizing the Congress government, he said it was ant farmer. He said the Punjab farmers were paid Rs 20perquintal less than Haryana farmers for paddy.
He also charged Chief Minister Harcharan Singh Brar with having failed to provide a clean administration. Commenting upon the expansion of the Brar ministry, he said it would be like old wine in anew boule, ‘The Congress, Mr. Badal said, had always cheated the Dalits by making false promises from time to time. On the appointment of a Lok Pal, he said the difficult set of conditions under which a complaint can be filed had rendered the move as useless for the people. He objected to the clause under which the failure of a complainant to prove his charges makes him liable for punishment. Batala, Shiromani Akali Dal has decided to make poll adjustments to defeat the Congress in all 13 Parliament seats in the state, in the fourth coming Parliament elections. Talking to media persons here Jan.7, Mr, Parkash Singh Badal president Shiromani Akali Dal and former Chief Minister Punjab, maintained that age the Election Commission had not yet decided on the dates of the poll, the Akali Dal would continue holding discussions.
