AMRITSAR: Mr. Prakash Singh Badal, president of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), last week said that he had convened the meeting of political affairs committee of his party to discuss the probability of striking poll alliance with some national level party in the coming Parliament elections.
While addressing a Press conference here, Mr. Badal said that options of his party for an alliance with the National Front or other parties were still open. He said he had held talks with various national political parties and their political affairs committees.
Mr, Badal alleged that controversy of Sahejdhari Sikhs was sparked by vested interests. He said that certain political parties were trying to politicize the issue. He said that allegation Leveled by Mr. Simranjit Singh Mann that his party was opposed to lowering of voters’ age was unfounded and mischievous. He said he or Mr. Tohra had never opposed an amendment in this regard.
Mr. Badal said that the present state government had miserably failed to which economic issues related to Punjab. He said by merely creating new districts, the problems of people were not solved and that neither government employees and nor farmers were happy with performance of Chief Minister Harcharan Singh Brar.
