SACRAMENTO: CA: The Sikh Sangat of Sacramento the capital city of California, celebrated Guru Nanak Dev Ji birthday on Sunday last. After the Akhand Path Bhog, the Sangat was treated to a program of Shabad Kirtan. The children of Sunday school performed Kirtan for half an hour followed by Kirtan by eminent ragi jathas of Giani Hargun Singh and Prof. Avtar Singh.
Prof. Manjeet Singh Sidhu, Editor-in—Chief World Sikh News speaking about Guru Nanak’s mission said that Sikhism is neither an off shoot of Hinduism nor a conscious attempt at syncretism by Guru Nanak as is generally made out by some misguided persons, but a revelatory religion. Guru Nanak was divinely ordained to disseminate in the mankind the true message of the Lord, he said.
The program ended with Ardas for Char-di-Kala of Satwant Singh and Kehar Singh and for the peace of the Sikh martyrs who have made supreme sacrifice of their lives for the freedom of the Sikh nation.
The langar Sewa was performed by the Gurdwara Secretary, S. Bakhshish Singh Banwait who celebrated the birthday of his daughter Monica.
