NEW YORK: S. Jagjit Singh Mangat has been unanimously elected President of the prestigious Sikli Cultural Society, New York that controls the Richmond Gurdwara. S.Baldev Singh, former speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha, was reelected Secretary while S. Ravinder Singh Bhamra, S. Manjeet Singh Shukla and S. Devinder Singh Saini were elected vice President, Treasurer and assistant Treasurer respectively. S. Sham Singh Balah, S. Gurcharan Sine and S. Nirmal Singh were elected chairmen of linger, building and education departments, respectively. Sikh Cultural Society has always been at the forefront in championing the Sikh cause and in Both Sardar Mangat and S. Baldey Singh are on the Governing Council of the World Sikh Organization and are also on the Board of Directors of the World Sikh News.
The Society collected an equivalent amount to days Charawa on July 27, 1986 for W.S.O. on the occasion of W.S.0.’s 2nd an anniversary. W.S.O. Director Administration, Dr. Naunihal Singh, in a letter, thanked the Society and the Sangat of Richmond Gurdwara for their efforts in strengthening W.S.O.
Madhukeshwari, the editor of Manushi and a fearless champion of human rights will address the Richmond Gurdwara congregation on August 17, 1986.
