GUWAHATI(PTI): On Aug 27, the rogue tusker which has killed 26 people in the riverine villages of Sonitpur district in the north caster Indian state of Assam was still roaming at large, though professional hunters and trained elephants were on its tall, official sources here said.
The tusker was believed to be hiding in the Ranitapu reserve forest, the sources said. Orders had been passed to kill it on sight the tusker had left a tail of devastation in the riverine villages of Muslim Char areas and destroyed a number of them.
